Africa-Press – Cape verde. Porto Novo confirmed its presence at the renewable energy fair in Cabo Verde, which runs from March 24 to 26, in the City of Praia, an opportunity to “promote the work done” in this area, in this municipality.
“We will be promoting all the work done on renewable energy in this municipality”, said the City Hall, which, through a note, stressed that Porto Novo has taken “significant steps” in this sector, in order to improve the quality of life of families in the various areas.
Several communities in this municipality were electrified using solar energy, especially the fishing village of Monte Trigo, the first town in Cabo Verde electrified, in 2012, to 100 percent (%) with renewable energy.
In addition to Monte Trigo, seven of the eight communities that make up the Planalto Norte are also supplied through renewable energies, in a municipality where virtually all water production systems, around two dozen, are equipped with photovoltaic systems.
