National Archive receives 19 cinematographic and audiovisual works from ACACV

Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Cinema and Audiovisual Association of Cabo Verde (ACACV) delivered on Thursday 19 cinematographic and audiovisual works to the National Archives Institute of Cabo Verde in order to raise awareness among the film’s directors for more contributions to the national archive.

Speaking to Inforpress, the president of the ACACV, Júlio Silvão Tavares, stressed that the symbolic delivery of cinematographic and audiovisual works is intended to raise awareness among film directors to make their works safely available and attract researchers to national film production.

“The works delivered today are from five directors, Mário Benvindo Cabral, Júlio Silvão, Mário Almeida, Abel Monteiro and Ercie Chantre.

This symbolic act serves to to raise awareness among artists to deposit their works in the National Archives, a safe place that can be shared with researchers interested in Cabo Verdean cinema”, he said.

Júlio Silvão Tavares considered the symbolic delivery an “act of extreme importance”, and stressed that it is the responsibility of all to contribute and ensure that future generations know what is done today in terms of cinema and audiovisual of Cabo Verde.
