Porto Novo/Ribeira das Patas: Residents in Catano complain about home water network

Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Association for the Integrated Development of Ribeira das Patas (ADIRP), in the municipality of Porto Novo, reported on Thursday that residents from Catano, in the highest part of the village, complain on the lack of water network.

The representative of ADIRP, Arlindo Delgado, confirmed that Catano, one of several villages that make up the village of Ribeira das Patas, currently face problems in water supply, whose resolution involves the installation of the water network.

People supply themselves with an old fountain, which is why, like other villages of Ribeira das Patas, the construction of a water network supply in this area is urgently necessary, told Inforpress the representative of ADIRP.

Several localities in the countryside of the municipality of Porto Novo still asked for water network supply, being to highlight, in addition to Catano, the Dominguinhos and Chã de Branquinho. For 2022, the forecast of municipal investments in the water sector exceeds 7 million escudos, a budget aimed precisely at improving water networks.

In partnership with the Government, the City Hall of Porto Novo said it still has other investments in the portfolio, with emphasis on strengthening the water supply in the city of Porto Novo, more precisely in the highest part of this city (São Tomé, Lajedinho), around 15 million escudos. These are interventions to begin in the first half of the year, announced the councilman responsible for water supply, Irlando Ramos.
