Africa-Press – Cape verde. The third edition of the “Lolê Nôs Encanto” Festival begins today in Mosteiros, with a diverse program that combines culture, environmental education, art, and citizenship, the organizers announced.

The festival is promoted by an organizing committee in partnership with the Associação Projeto Vitó, the Mosteiros city government, and teachers, and will feature the participation of students, artists, institutional representatives, and members of the educational community.

According to Lela Lopes, from the event organizers, the official opening will be held in the library of the Laranjo School, Group II in Queimada Guincho, with a welcome for participants and a welcome message from the Group II director.

The ceremony will be captivated by the singing of the song “Mar & Oceano, nôs riquéza, nôs sperança,” performed by students from the Grupo Coral Cidadania (Citizenship Choir), and the recitation of poems about environmental preservation.

On the first day, the program includes a lecture on “Climate Change: A Threat to Our Biodiversity,” led by technicians from the Vitó Project Association, with the goal of raising awareness among participants about the impacts of climate change on the archipelago.

The festival will also feature an artistic moment, with painters Paulo Pina and Mário “Zelito” Barbosa conducting a live painting session focusing on nature and local biodiversity.

There will also be a message from one of the festival’s founding members, as well as interventions by partner organizations and a visit to the school garden, where endemic plant species were recently installed as a symbol of environmental commitment.

The event will continue on Sunday, October 19, with a line-fishing competition on Lolê beach, sponsored by several local and emigrant supporters.

During the competition, symbolic prizes and “cultural embrace” medals will be awarded, recognizing community involvement and encouraging citizenship education and environmental awareness.

According to the organization, the “Lolê Nôs Encanto” Festival aims to reaffirm itself as a space for intergenerational dialogue, celebrating cultural roots and strengthening the collective commitment to environmental preservation.
