Boluda Shipping Inaugurates Ship Diana B in Cape Verde

Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Spanish company Boluda Shipping will begin operating the vessel Diana B in Cape Verde, aiming to strengthen maritime connectivity in the transport of goods between Europe, the Canary Islands, and Cape Verde, the company announced on Thursday.

The city of Praia hosted the Boluda Shipping management team this week, led by President Ignacio Boluda, to mark the inaugural voyage of the Diana B.

The president of Boluda Shipping revealed to Inforpress that the new vessel, valued at approximately 18 million euros (1.9 million contos), represents a strategic advance in strengthening maritime links between Northern Europe, the Iberian Peninsula, the Canary Islands, and Cape Verde, in order to position itself as a key element for the logistical development of the archipelago.

On the eve of celebrating a decade of presence in Cape Verde, Boluda Shipping, according to its president, stands out for its strong presence in the country, with offices, logistics warehouses, and regular shipping services.

With the Diana B, Boluda Shipping now aims to increase cargo capacity and ensure operations with strict schedules for all islands, increasing the predictability and efficiency of the national maritime sector.

With a capacity of 950 TEU and a gross tonnage of 8,300 tons, the Diana B is equipped with two 45-ton Liebherr cranes, which allow for faster loading and unloading processes in Cape Verdean ports.

According to the company, this operational efficiency contributes to the reduction of carbon emissions by avoiding the need for high-speed navigation, fulfilling a commitment to environmental sustainability.

Among the innovations, the configuration of the holds also stands out, allowing the transport of 45-foot (13.7-meter) containers. This capacity offers clients a greater volume of cargo compared to the standard usually used in the archipelago, allowing companies to optimize storage spaces and increase the efficiency of their logistics operations.

With the arrival of the Diana B, Boluda Shipping reaffirms its strategic role in strengthening the logistics chain in Cape Verde and boosting the country’s economic growth.
