Emergency Income Payments By Monday – Pró Empresa

Africa-Press – Cape verde. Informal business owners in São Vicente who were affected by Storm Erin on August 11th will receive their Emergency Social Income (RSE) installments by Monday, December 1st, guaranteed the president of Pró Empresa.

Edney Cabral gave this assurance at a press conference today in Mindelo, to clarify the status of the support that the public company has been providing to business owners affected by Storm Erin and in response to some beneficiaries who told the press they had not received the money.

The same source began by addressing the issue of informal business owners, as well as farmers and fishermen, who are included in a list of 650 people.

Edney Cabral affirmed that all those on this list have already received the first part of the subsidy of 30,000 escudos, which should be granted over three months, September, October, and November, totaling 90,000 escudos.

“In the first tranche, we dispensed with the most bureaucratic procedures, such as having the contract and the commitment agreement, and we made the payments. In the second tranche, we require the respective contract and other documents,” the manager clarified.

Of the total of 650, only 400 have received the full subsidy, and the president of Pró Empresa pointed to the lack of signature on the aforementioned contract as the main cause of the delay.

“But no merchant, no farmer, no fisherman, no family will be left without income,” reiterated Edney Cabral, who said that by Monday, December 1st, everyone will have all the tranches in their accounts, including the additional 50,000 escudos allocated to merchants to help rebuild their businesses.

The same attention, according to the same source, will also be given to Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) that were also affected, and which, according to their data, total 230.

Edney Cabral added, on the other hand, that they are verifying the list from Pró Empresa with those of the Ministry of the Sea and the Ministry of Agriculture to ensure that no one harmed by Storm Erin is left without compensation.

To date, he clarified, amounts of around 150 million escudos have already been paid, and the “necessary amount” will be disbursed so that everyone benefits, he affirmed.
