Africa-Press – Cape verde. The National Commission of the Cape Verdean Football Federation has scheduled elections for the federation’s governing bodies for January 3rd, announcing that the candidacy process has been formally opened, with the deadline being December 19th.
According to a statement from the Electoral Commission, each competing slate must be unique, complete, and headed by a candidate for the position of President of the Executive Committee.
Among the mandatory requirements, the Electoral Court emphasizes that each slate must be supported by at least three members and must ensure 30% representation of each gender in the governing bodies.
It further reinforces that each member of the Cape Verdean Football Federation (FCF) can only support one list, and if they sign more than one, all their declarations of support will be invalidated.
Candidacies must be submitted to the FCF General Secretariat by registered mail, email, or in person, by the deadline of December 19th. The required documentation includes a letter of acceptance, a copy of identification, a criminal record certificate, and, for legal positions (Appeals, Disciplinary and Ethics Boards), proof of a law degree.
Within two days of the closing of applications, the same source states, the Electoral Commission will notify any candidates whose documentation is incomplete, granting them two more days to complete the process.
On the other hand, applications will be evaluated within a maximum of ten days, with those presenting irregularities, illegible or altered documents being rejected. Appeals against decisions of the Electoral Commission must be submitted to the Electoral Appeals Commission, whose decisions are final and binding.
The statement also warns that elected members cannot have been convicted of criminal offenses incompatible with their functions and that the FCF statutes prevail in case of interpretive divergence.
