Africa-Press – Cape verde. The city of São Filipe is preparing to welcome the new year with various options, including a party organized by the city hall at the Armand Montrond Cultural Center and a private event on Fonte Bila beach.
At the Armand Montrond Cultural Center, the São Filipe City Hall is hosting a New Year’s Eve celebration with free admission, featuring fireworks and live music.
According to the city hall, the initiative is a gesture of support for the population, considering the financial difficulties faced by many families, and an alternative for those who have no planned celebrations for tonight, December 31st.
According to the Secretary of Culture, Lia Barbosa, the choice of the Armand Montrond Cultural Center, compared to other spaces like the prison, aims to encourage the population to return to this cultural facility, which has a capacity of approximately 2,500 people and needs “greater revitalization to become more profitable.”
Despite the inability to hire more prominent artists due to the late decision, the program will feature local artists such as the bands Pó de Lumi and Bem d’longe, as well as DJs Cash and Sambriu.
The city hall will also provide 12 stalls, allowing some families to earn extra income during the New Year’s Eve celebration.
Another option is the New Year’s Eve party on Fonte Bila beach, organized for the second consecutive year by Fogo Entertainment.
This is a private event, costing eight thousand escudos per person, in an “all-inclusive” format, aimed at those seeking a more structured celebration by the sea.
In addition to these two options, in the III Congresso neighborhood there will be, as in previous years, a popular New Year’s Eve celebration on one of the streets, with music, as well as an electronic music tent operating during the night of December 31st to January 1st, with various musical styles.
No organized New Year’s Eve parties are planned, but the city’s restaurants will operate normally, offering music and food services.
In recent days, São Filipe has seen increased activity, with many people circulating through the commercial establishments and the Alto São Pedro region, where the city hall concentrated the market vendors since before Christmas, contributing to a festive and dynamic atmosphere in the city.
