The Cape Verdean team started the match better and scored the first goal just 32 seconds into the game through Bruno Landim.
However, the Egyptian team, three-time African champions, took the lead and went into halftime winning 16-11.
With this result, Cape Verde is out of the fight for the African title and will now compete for third or fourth place on the CAN podium. Their opponent for this match is not yet known.
The Blue Sharks entered this edition of the CAN handball tournament with good results, starting with a victory against their counterparts from the Democratic Republic of Congo, 34-28. In their second match, they beat Morocco 33-28, finishing the group stage with only victories, after a 32-24 win against Benin.
In the quarterfinals, the senior men’s national handball team defeated Guinea-Conakry 45-25.
