The event will take place within the Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood and Family Education.

According to a press release, the event, which will be held in a hybrid format (in-person and online), will take place in the Auditorium of the Catholic University, on the Prainha Campus, São José Seminary, in Praia City, and will be chaired by the Secretary of State for Social Inclusion, Lídia Lima.

The initiative aims to raise awareness among the academic community and society in general about the problems associated with gender-based violence, promoting critical reflection, interdisciplinary dialogue, and mobilization for concrete actions to prevent and combat all forms of violence against women and girls, focusing on human rights, citizenship, and social justice.

The program highlights the Keynote Conference, entitled “Gender Violence and its Sociocultural Expressions: Anthropological, Educational and Human Rights Perspectives,” which will be given by Marisa Carvalho, President of the Cape Verdean Institute for Gender Equality and Equity (ICIEG), and Carmelita Silva, from the University of Cape Verde (UNICV).

A Multisectoral Roundtable is also planned on “Public Policies, Ethical, Religious and Community Dimensions in Addressing Gender Violence and the Comprehensive Protection of Women, Children and Adolescents,” with interventions by Eurídice Mascarenhas, President of the National Commission for Human Rights and Citizenship, Nilson Mendes, psychologist at the Cape Verdean Institute for Children and Adolescents (ICCA), and Jacob Vicente, Director of the Psychological Care Center (CAP).
