Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), Daren Tang, said on Thursday that the organization will support about 200 Cabo Verdean companies in developing their potential and use of intellectual property to reach other markets.
This official, who is visiting Cabo Verde, announced this information during his speech at the opening ceremony of the international conference on “the contribution of intellectual property (IP) in the promotion of innovation and the transition to a sustainable economy”, which takes place today and this Friday in the City of Praia.
According to WIPO’s director general, the pandemic has made intellectual property more resilient in recent years and accelerated the process for digital transition and new technologies.
“The growth in recent years shows that innovation has been an activity that has contributed to the development of countries and emerging economies,” he said, highlighting the gains Cabo Verde has achieved at the continent level, rising 11 positions in the WIPO ranking.
