Africa-Press – Cape verde. Boxers Sifonelo Lopes and Admilson Carvalho won the gold medals at the Zone II Africa Championship in Freetown (Sierra Leone) on Thursday, making four golds, one silver and two bronze medals for the Cabo Verdean national team.
In the final played in the evening at the Freetown Western Arena Sierra Leone, Cabo Verdean internationals Sifonelo Borges Lopes and Admilson Carvalho won the gold medals in the 86 and 63.5Kg final, against athletes from Senegal and Sierra Leone, respectively.
The Cabo Verdean coach, Adilson Varela, praised the good performance of the Creole Delegation, which, with seven boxers, added four gold, a silver and two bronze medals, when, in his view, “few people in Cabo Verde believed in what the boys have already achieved”.
