Africa-Press – Cape verde. Praia, Apr 11 (Inforpress) -The City of Praia was the scene of a march called “March ahead: Awareness about Parkinson’s Disease/DDM”, promoted by the Movement Diseases Project in Cabo Verde, with the purpose of “transforming the stigma existing in Cabo Verdean society”.
The project’s mentor, Leida Tolentino, said that they intend to transform and raise awareness among Cabo Verdean society to different diseases, particularly those of movement, in order to educate the population on how to identify symptoms and treat diseases related.
At the same time, she stressed that she wants to raise awareness among authorities to adequate and effective solutions and treatment for this type of disease can be found together, which affects one in 100 people over the age of 60, but warned that early Parkinson’s disease could still reach the juvenile class.
“We want to warn all people to be prepared to identify these symptoms, so that the disease is treated in a timely manner,” said Leida Tolentino, claiming that the project has done work in the country to raise awareness among authorities, aiming to enable access to treatments, medicines and resources in general as multidisciplinary support.
