Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Feast of Easter was celebrated again in Fonte Lima and Ribeira dos Engenhos, after two years of absence, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but in a timid way and with weak movement of people.
With restrictions to be lifted, the prospects were good, but the residents from these two localities in the municipality of Santa Catarina, in the countryside of Santiago, believe that the war between Russia and Ukraine, which increased the cost of living in the country, may be the cause of the weak movement of people.
However, even timidly, after the Eucharistic celebration of the Feast of Easter, to celebrate the resurrection of Christ, the people who went to the two localities found the doors open and were received with “open arms” and with a table full of various dishes, ranging from cow or goat stew with massa, xérem, feijoada, chicken soup and cabidela, among others, prepared by housewives.
Even after two years without preparing large amounts of food, the Cooks from these two localities ensure that they have not lost their culinary skills and the lunch will be served to everyone who passes through there.
