Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Secretary of State for Social Inclusion told Inforpress on Monday that the Government will make available 6 million escudos to six associations in São Vicente working with children, elderly people and people with disabilities.
According to Lídia Lima, this funding aims to strengthen the intervention of these associations and that is why she will visit some associations and institutions, even in the private sector, to see what the real needs in order to be able to follow what they are doing.
“We want to listen, see how they are developing their work even to suggest one or another change. It’s been very good, we were with the Nazarene League this morning, and this institution is intending to request for funding because it has a project to rehabilitate a space where they usually offer hot meals, but I left as a suggestion that they had as a top priority to get the food through the basic food baskets and the hot meals to people”, explained the Secretary of State for Social Inclusion.
According to the same source, at this time, there are many needs, especially when talking about elderly people confined to bed and with disabilities. But she stressed that institutions should be careful about selecting the people who are benefiting from this type of support.
