Africa-Press – Cape verde. The President of the Republic, José Maria Neves, urges the municipal elected representatives from São Vicente and Praia, who have led some tension, to dialogue and consider the “uncompromising defense of the common good”.
The Head of State, who for the first time spoke in public about the political situation in the two most important municipalities in the country, argues that the solution to dissent will have to go through “dialogue and commitment to the electorate” and not “political competition”.
José Maria Neves, who spoke to the press on the sidelines of the class he gave this Thursday, the 21st, at Domingos Ramos High School, Praia, assured the press that he has spoken to all the speakers.
“We are in a plural democratic society and we must be able to act, taking into account the complexity of the democratic exercise in today’s times: listening to everyone and taking into account all political and social sensitivities,” Neves said, adding that we must work with the sense of the common good.
