Júlio Lopes, who was speaking yesterday, during the signing of a tripartite protocol, between the Municipality of Sal, the Ministry of Internal Administration and the Ministry of Tourism and Transport, with a view to the operationalization of the Municipal Police in Sal, highlighted the importance of order and discipline. for the development of the island.

For, in his view, these are crucial factors for the “competitiveness” of the economy, security and tranquility of citizens and of those who visit the biggest gateway for tourists in Cape Verde. In this context, he guaranteed that the council is working, imposing more rigor in complying with municipal rules and postures.

“This municipal council is working on the basis of a governance model that implies proximity between the council and the people, the participation of populations, communities, dialogue with institutions, but also demanding more rigor and compliance with municipal rules and postures. , so that the entire population of Sal can benefit from this new environment of tranquility and security”, he guaranteed.

The same assured that, given this situation, Sal will enter a new era of “rigor and discipline”, so that coexistence, as he stressed, can be “more pleasant”.

He also said that the council “will not tolerate, but rather react with determination”, to situations that may affect the harmony, tranquility and well-being of communities and of those who visit Sal.

“With the protocol signed, after this message of imposition of rules, we will now work so that by the end of the last quarter of this year we can have our Municipal Police fully operational”, concluded the mayor.

The municipal police of Sal should initially have 70 officers, in a municipal investment of more than three million euros, according to data provided by LUSA.
