Africa-Press – Cape verde. The large-scale fire that spread through Ponta Verde on Tuesday morning, the 17th, is under control and the forecast is for its extinction by noon with the reinforcement of means coming from the City of Praia.
The Councilman for the Environment of the city of São Filipe, João José Canuto, told today to Inforpress that firefighters and civil protection agents had the situation controlled and there was no active front, but with fumarole that are being evaluated to avoid new fire.
“At the moment the situation is 90 percent (%) controlled, there is no wind and with the arrival of the firefighters team and military from Praia the forecast is to have the situation fully controlled by noon”, said João José Canto, at 07:30AM, to Inforpress.
Following the fire that on Tuesday night had several fronts, the City Hall requested Government support that arrived this morning in São Filipe.
