Africa-Press – Cape verde. The City Hall today praised the “fantastic work” the “Women in Solidarity for the Environment” Association has been carrying out in terms of basic sanitation in the city of Porto Novo, in Santo Antão.
The Councilman for sanitation area, Valter Silva, highlighted the fact that the “Women in Solidarity for the Environment” are “helping to do a fantastic job in cleaning” in this city, which thanks to the action of this civic group is getting cleaner, calling for “the engagement of other organized groups” in favor of an increasingly clean municipality.
The “Women in Solidarity for the Environment” Association was created in March this year by a group of women from the city of Porto Novo to “help” the City Hall in cleaning up this urban center, already presented “remarkable results”, which has been made in partnership with the City Hall.
The municipality of Porto Novo has been the target of a raising awareness campaign among schools and communities to stop the dumping of garbage, rubble, tires, municipal solid waste on the slopes and streams.
