BM approves 30 million dollars credit for tourism resilience projects and blue economy in Cabo Verde

Africa-Press – Cape verde. The World Bank on Tuesday approved a 30 million dollars credit to the International Development Association to finance the five-year Resilient Tourism and Blue Economy Development projects in Cabo Verde.

The projects financed, according to a World Bank (WB) press release, will contribute to critical objectives, including the sustainable improvement of the diversity of tourism sector supply in more islands and market segments, as well as to allow greater participation and connection of the local communities in the economic dividends that come from tourism.

Also according to the press release, in the first phase, the integrated and cross-sectoral interventions of the project covers destinations on the islands of Santiago, Santo Antão, São Vicente and Sal, including the development of resilient tourism infrastructure and blue economy.

The changes, the document says, are to improve trekking trails, restore historical and cultural heritage, seafront, fishing piers and the market, critical access road, and support to the local PME sector and women-led businesses in providing sustainable services and products.
