Africa-Press – Cape verde. The SOS Children’s Villages of Cabo Verde launch this Wednesday, in Praia, a campaign to draw attention to parental responsibility, during a Gala, in which it regularly holds to recognize the partners and godparents of the institution.
Speaking to Inforpress, the National Director of the SOS Children’s Villages of Cabo Verde, Dionísio Pereira, stated that in the country there are many families who go through extremely complicated situations, with difficulties, for example, to have day-to-day food, in the face of a situation in which most parents, the Cabo Verdean male figure, do not assume their responsibility.
“And it is what takes us tomorrow [Wednesday] to launch a campaign for parental responsibility and led us to deliver in the Parliamentary House a document that is a proposed new law, a legislative initiative in the sense the parents who do not assume their responsibilities are called to the law”, he explained.
With this proposal, he added, it is intended that parents fail to comply can be deprived of freedom and forced to pay for the care needed for their children, so that all children are covered by their parents’ care and attention, in a society he considers increasingly challenging from a safety point of view.
