Africa-Press – Cape verde. Eighty-two vicinal roads in Santo Antão, in an extension of 294 kilometers, will be restored from this year, whose program was launched, Thursday, the 3rd, by the Prime Minister, in the framework of his visit to the island.
“There are about 82 routes in all three municipalities, covering a total of 294 kilometers along the island. The tender will be launched later this month and we expect to start with the works this year”, assured the Head of Government.
According to Ulisses Correia e Silva, this is a project budgeted at 210 million escudos and “extremely important” for Santo Antão, since it will benefit the populations from the three municipalities.
For the Minister of Tourism, Carlos Santos, who accompanies the Prime Minister on this visit, the program of recovery of the vicinal roads in Santo Antão, co-financed with funds from the World Bank and the Tourism Fund, “will give more security to tourists, tour guides and populations from this island.”
