Africa-Press – Cape verde. The municipality of Tarrafal, in the interior of Santiago, celebrates World Environment Day, June 5, with a range of activities, including cleaning campaigns and tree planting.

According to a statement from that municipality, the program to commemorate the date includes cleaning campaigns, planting trees, meeting with drivers and owners of trucks and galuchos, planting coconut trees, lectures, among other activities.

A iniciativa, segundo a mesma fonte, visa sensibilizar a população sobre as problemáticas ambientais do país, mais concretamente do interior da ilha de Santiago.

Importance of preservation
