Universities have low participation of women in engineering courses despite training offers

Africa-Press – Cape verde. The participation of women in engineering courses has increased in recent years, but despite the training offers of Uni-CV and Uni-Piaget, the women’s registration and entry into the area is very weak.

This information was provided to Inforpress by professors from the University of Cabo Verde (Uni-CV) and Jean Piaget, as part of the International Women’s Day in Engineering, which is observed today and this year has as its motto “Inventors and Innovators”.

According to the professor and researcher of the Faculty of Science and Technology of the University of Cabo Verde, Elisabeth Andrade, the aforementioned public institution of higher education, has played an “important role” encouraging the entry of students in the Engineering area through training offers.

As she explained, the students, in particular, who choose engineering courses at Uni-CV have options to graduate in the areas of Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Chemical and Biological Engineering, Food Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, having highlighted that these offers represent an added value for both women and men.
