São Vicente: Swimming school expects to see modality included in school curricula

Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Nhô Fula Swimming School and Aquatic Rescue (Enaf), in Mindelo, wants swimming to be one of the sports to be included in the school curricula of Cabo Verde, said the responsible Silas Leite.

As the same source told Inforpress, the school, which has more than 20 years of existence, want to make a “small contribution” so that entities “become aware of the reality” of the country and can reflect on the possibility to include swimming in school curricula.

“We want to awaken the system to the archipelagic reality that we have, to show that knowing how to swim is all about everyone and we do not continue to live with our backs to the sea,” Silas Leite said, referring to several deaths of fishermen, bathers and even sailors registered over the years.

And as a way of “aculturating” people for the aquatic environment, Enaf intends, from July, to put into practice the “Education, sports and civic activities in the development of organized swimming” project, which will have as protagonists primary schools students.
