Africa-Press – Cape verde. The rehabilitation and expansion works of the National Center for Art, Crafts and Design (CAND), in Mindelo, will be inaugurated at the end of July, by the prime minister, Ulisses Correia e Silva. It is an investment of more than 100 thousand contos.

According to the CNAD, the program starts with the performance “A Coroa das goats in the warp of dreams”, by Caplan Neves, followed by speeches by the director of the National Center for Art, Crafts and Design, Irlando Ferreira, by the architects responsible for the project. , Eloisa Ramos and Moreno Castellano.

The Mayor of São Vicente, Augusto Neves, the Minister of Culture, Abraão Vicente, and the Prime Minister, Ulisses Correia e Silva, should also speak, who will then cut the ribbon.

The program also includes a set of guided tours, and a concert by Vasco Martins, in the multipurpose courtyard of CNAD.

The rehabilitation and expansion works of the CNAD started in February 2019, initially with an execution period of 12 months.

Funded by the Government, the initial project was estimated at around 58 million escudos.

However, according to the Minister of Culture, Abraão Vicente, “the investment is currently around over 100 thousand escudos, just in infrastructure.

For the implementation of the CNAD project, another 40 thousand escudos will be needed”.

With the new work and new features, the old CNAD building will become the “Manuel Figueira” museum space, will house a café and a handicraft shop, will have a multipurpose patio, galleries and a research centre.
