Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Cruise Atlantic Islands Association, made up of the ports of Cape Verde, Madeira, Las Palmas and Tenerife, will hold its first meeting between tomorrow and Wednesday, 20th. The focus is on enhancing and promoting cruise tourism in these regions of Macaronesia. The opening is presided over by Abraão Vicente, Minister of the Sea.

As ENAPOR explains, the Cruise Atlantic Islands (CAI), an association made up of the Ports of Cape Verde, the Ports of Madeira, the Port of Las Palmas and the Port of Tenerife, was created with the aim of jointly promoting the destination of Macaronesia, in the two largest world fairs “Seatrade Cruise Global” and “Seatrade Cruise Med”, via the CAI stand and in specialized magazines.

As they advance, as a way of imprinting a new commercial dynamic on the Association, the partners will meet annually, on a rotating basis, to address issues related to strategy, market analysis, trends and definition of marketing and promotion of the destination.

The first meeting will take place in Mindelo, between tomorrow, 19th, and Wednesday, 20th of July, at ENAPOR’s headquarters, in São Vicente.

The initiative, according to ENAPOR, is part of a set of “concerted and strategic actions”, in order to project the destination (Atlantic corridor), thus allowing the increase of both cruise ships that call at our ports and cruise passengers.

It is recalled that the first cruise terminal in the country is being built in Mindelo, the works of which were launched in January of this year.

The opening session of the meeting will take place tomorrow, starting at 15:00, in the Porto Grande meeting room, and will be attended by the Minister of the Sea, Abraão Vicente.
