1st CHAN Qualifying Round: Cape Verde loses 2-0 to Sierra Leone

Africa-Press – Cape verde. Cape Verde lost this afternoon 2-0 to Sierra Leone, in the first round game of the African Cup of Nations for Residents (CHAN). On July 27, the second leg will be played in the same stadium.

Cape Verde has just lost two balls to zero with Sierra Leone, in a game that took place at the stadium in Marrakesh, Morocco.

Sierra Leone was stronger and went into the first half already winning by a ball to zero, having consolidated the victory in the second half.

The two teams will face each other again next Wednesday, the 27th, at the same stadium in this Maghreb country, this time, in a game referring to the second round, with Cape Verde playing as a home team.

This is because Cape Verde and Sierra Leone have their stadiums closed by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to host international competitions.

If Cape Verde eliminates Sierra Leone, the national team will go to the second round to face Mali, the losing finalist of the last CHAN and which gives access to the African championship scheduled for January, in Algeria.
