Africa-Press – Cape verde. Praia City Council went to a junkyard in the country’s capital to recover 33 manhole covers stolen on the road from Vila Vitória, up to the Agostinho Alves roundabout. The practice has been frequent in some neighborhoods of the capital.
The municipality made it known this morning, through a publication on its Facebook page, that community development agents and municipal guards recovered a total of 33 manhole covers, stolen and sold to a junkyard, in Achada São Philip.
“The practices of vandalism and theft have deserved a firm action on the part of the Municipality of Praia, which together with its team has worked to combat them”, said the same source.
The same emphasizes that this act has been practiced in other neighborhoods of the city and appeals to everyone to avoid “this type of behavior”. In addition to recovering the manhole covers, it was not possible to ascertain, with the council, whether the case was reported to the judicial authorities.
