Africa-Press – Cape verde. The new president of Youth for Democracy (JpD), Vander Gomes, elected this Saturday, promised to train new leaders and promote opportunities for access to the labor market.
Vander Gomes thus replaces Euclides Silva at the head of JpD, after being elected in a single list, during the elective general meeting, held in Praia.
For the near future, Vander Gomes informed that he will work on the organization of the municipalities and on the elaboration of the activity plan, “key elements for JpD’s political action”.
“Cohesive and dynamic”
The president of the MpD, Ulisses Correia e Silva, who closed the elective general assembly, said he expected a “cohesive and dynamic” JpD, capable of involving young Cape Verdeans in the country’s issues.
“It is a representation of young people who want to have political and civic action (…) a structure that shares the principles and values of the MpD”, he explained.
Therefore, Ulisses Correia e Silva pointed out that the JpD’s first mission is to be present, to attract more and more the interests of youth and to make them participate in political, civic, cultural and sports activities.
“Being there where the interests of youth are and promoting new attitudes and new values”, added the president of the party that supports the Government.
Euclides Silva, the outgoing president, appealed to young people to continue to believe in the country and that JpD continue to mobilize young people for the public cause.
