Brava: Government announces investigation into the death of teenager Djonny

Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Prime Minister announced, this Monday, that he will launch a “strict investigation” to investigate the circumstances of the death of the teenager João Carlos Martins da Cruz, Djonny, 14 years old, on August 1, at Hospital São Francisco de Assisi, after being evacuated from Brava.

In a statement published on his official Facebook page, Ulisses Correia e Silva points out the need to ensure the full clarification of all the facts related to this event, given, as he said, the seriousness of the insinuations that have been made.

The aforementioned survey will be applied to the medical-hospital services provided to the patient at the Brava Health Center and at the São Francisco de Assis Regional Hospital in Fogo, but also to the procedures adopted in the evacuation of the patient, by sea, to the island of Fogo.

Report until August 31

The survey will be coordinated by Yolanda Landim, Gynecologist and obstetrician, working at Hospital Agostinho Neto, in a team that also includes Hélida Djamila Fernandes, pediatrician working at Hospital Agostinho Neto and Cilene Silva, manager of the Maritime Safety Fund.

The process must be initiated “immediately” and the respective report must be presented to the Prime Minister by 31 August.
