Africa-Press – Cape verde. Starting tomorrow, Monday, 22, and until August 29, the Congolese painter Elsie Mafouta will be in Assomada, as part of the “Colors of Summer” program, to promote a set of activities.

The program includes the exhibition of 22 paintings by the artist, to be held in the Pedestrian Zone, as well as others produced live.

The same will also perform a mural painting (in a place to be designated) that will deal with the ecosystem, in addition to a workshop for young people interested in pictorial art.

Profile

Born in Brazzaville, Elsie Mafouta entered the world of visual arts through drawing, a natural skill that soon manifested itself. But it was in Cuba, in the late 1980s and early 1990s, that Elsie learned neorealist painting alongside Master El Chino, at Centro Artístico La Victoria, on Isla de la Juventud.

During her stay in Cuba, Elsie Mafouta participated in various activities, such as painting exhibitions and illustrations in newspapers and books.

Currently, the artist paints with his own style, which he calls “Melody of Colors” and where women and fauna stand out.

It should be noted that from the early 2000s until today, Elsie has participated in several group and thematic exhibitions in several countries, such as Burkina Faso, Brazil, France, Cote d’Ivoire and Congo.

Since 2016, he has chosen Cape Verde as his land of residence, where he created the pan-African event “Caravan Bantu”, a cultural exchange that takes place every year.

Inside, he has already exhibited at the Ildo Lobo Palace of Culture, in São Vicente and Santo Antão.
