Porto Novo: Community of Dominguinhas appeals to emigrants to help elementary school

Africa-Press – Cape verde. The community of Dominguinhas, Porto Novo, Santo Antão, is unhappy with the state of abandonment of the local elementary school. Residents appeal to people from Porto and emigrants to help restore the infrastructure.

Through a document, quoted by Inforpress, the community of Dominguinhas makes “an appeal” to the people of Porto, namely to emigrants from this locality, to “contribute to helping to rebuild” the local elementary school “already in an advanced stage of degradation” .

Parents and guardians in Dominguinhas confirm that the school is “without the minimum physical conditions” to receive students in September, at the start of the academic year.

Minister’s promise a year ago

They recall that the Minister of Education, about a year ago, had promised works on this school, which is in “bad conditions”.

Porto Novo has been the target of a rehabilitation program for the school network, which included, in June, the José Pereira Jardim elementary school, in Ribeira das Patas, and this year it is planned to include the schools of Ribeira Corujinha, Jorge Luís and from Tarrafal de Monte Trigo.
