Africa-Press – Cape verde. The town of Ribeira da Barca, municipality of Santa Catarina de Santiago, hosts on the 24th of October, the activities commemorating the 77th anniversary of the United Nations.
According to a press release from the local authority, the choice of this location to mark the date was an initiative of the office of the coordinator of the United Nations System in Cape Verde.
“The event will mark the signing of the new cooperation framework, between the United Nations and the Government of Cape Verde, for a period of five years, and will also be an opportunity to raise awareness of environmental issues, namely, with regard to the sand collecting”, he said.

Among the activities of this event, scheduled for the 24th of October, there will be a formal session in Ribeira da Barca, cultural moments, among others.
The City Council, in consultation with the United Nations Office, intends to hold a roundtable on this day to present local projects that the municipality has in its portfolio, thus taking advantage of the presence of various cooperation agencies and the diplomatic corps accredited in Cape Verde. .
At this moment, according to the organizers, a working group has already been set up to organize this event, one of the “great opportunities” that the fishing village of Ribeira da Barca will have to present its potential, namely waterfall, Águas Belas cave attracting more investments.
