Africa-Press – Cape verde. Two hundred and seventy-two thousand escudos (272 contos) were made available by the Association of Naturals and Friends of Saltos (ANAS), based in Boston (USA), to support needy families in the acquisition of school materials.
In all, 51 students from the first to the 12th year of schooling from Salto (São Filipe) and Achada Poio (Santa Catarina do Fogo) were covered.
The support was made available to parents and guardians on the 23rd of September.
Cláudio Timas, representative of the aforementioned association guaranteed that the support came “at the right time” for some families, taking into account that the current financial situation is not the best to acquire the school materials that their children need, in the beginning of more an academic year.

In turn, the beneficiary families, from these two locations, thanked the association for its support and for the “act of love and kindness” towards the students of Salto and Achada Poio.
It is recalled that ANAS has supported, in addition to the education sector, the families of these localities in the improvement of their housing and in other social areas.
It should be noted that last April, the aforementioned association, through a protocol signed with the São Filipe council, offered to participate in the process of requalification and placement of synthetic turf on the jumping football field.
The referred association delivered, at the time, the amount of five thousand dollars, corresponding to 50 percent (%) of the promised amount and the other half in two phases.
