The deputy and candidate for President of the Movement for Democracy (MpD in power), Orlando Dias, considered false the information released on social media this week, that he had accepted the invitation of the Prime Minister, Ulisses Correia e Silva, to be Minister of Health.
“An individual, who is dedicated to propagating falsehoods on social media, wrote that Ulisses Correia e Silva would have invited me to be Minister of Health and that I would have accepted. This is a despicable falsehood!” Orlando Dias wrote on his Facebook page, adding, “Not only was I not invited, but if I were to be invited, I would never accept!”
Orlando Dias, who has already announced his candidacy for leadership of the MpD in next year’s internal elections, also expressed his firm determination to carry out his purpose.
“As much as it bothers my internal and external opponents, my candidacy for President of the MpD goes up to the vote”, he guaranteed.
Ulisses Correia e Silva reappointment
It should be noted that the current president of the MpD and prime minister, Ulisses Correia e Silva, announced last weekend, during the opening of the 2022/2023 political year, his re-election for the presidency of the party he directs, claiming that does so “in the name of political stability” of the country
“We don’t need to combine the economic and social crisis with the political crisis. Cape Verde does not deserve a political crisis at this time. The MpD does not need a political crisis these days. People need to understand every moment we are living. We have a government that defends the people, and a country with many problems, uncertainties and threats”, warned Ulisses Correia e Silva.
In this sense, the leader of the MpD considered that this is not the time for fights, although he recognizes that “each one is free to present what he wants”. However, he called for “responsibility for the country, for the party he leads and for thousands of Cape Verdeans, both in the country and in the diaspora”.
The leader of the MpD assured that the interest in the defense of the country must be above all.
