Africa-Press – Cape verde. About half a hundred cyclists, including 26 from Santiago, participate this Sunday, 23, in the morning, in the second edition of the cycling race “Sprint Praia 2022”. The initiative is organized by SITA, Sociedade Industrial de Tintas, in partnership with the Regional Cycling Association of Santiago Sul.
This event, which has aroused increasing interest at a national level, is taking place in the Praia Airport area, covering a circular path between the Achada Grande Frente roundabout to the roundabout that leads to São Francisco and back to the Achada Grande Frente, in a total of 11 laps, covering approximately 115 km.
“Sprint Praia 2022” is registered, a total of 51 cyclists, namely in the Youth (under 23), Elite (Senior) and Master (over 40) levels.
Presence of the winner of “Sprint Praia 2021”
The winner of last year’s edition, “Sprint Praia 2021”, Nélio Cruz, will also be present, as part of the entourage of five cyclists from São Vicente.
On the other hand, after Santiago, São Nicolau is the island with the greatest representation, eight cyclists, including the current National Champion, Vady Fonseca.
The other cyclists who will participate in the race are from the islands of Santo Antão (4), Sal (2), Maio (1), Fogo (3) and Brava (2).

“Sprint Praia” will award prizes to the first three classified in each level and to the flying goals in the Elite level, on the third, sixth and ninth laps, in order to create greater sporting and competitive dynamism.
