Africa-Press – Cape verde. Tourism and fishing are the economic sectors in the municipality of Porto Novo, in Santo Antão, to receive more investments throughout 2022, with a view to strengthening the competitiveness of this municipality, according to a City Hall source.
The City Hall of Porto Novo investment plan for 2022 provides investments around 43 million escudos in the competitiveness of this municipality, with fishing and tourism being the sectors will benefit the most.
According to the plan, to which Inforpress had access, and which began to be implemented now in January, investments planned for fisheries are around 20 million escudos, an amount destined to the operationalization of the fish market, already in the final phase of construction, and the empowerment of this sector, of “great potential” in Porto Novo.
In tourism, the highlight goes to the opening of a tourist office in Ribeira das Patas and to the second phase of the Curraletes beach’s requalification, in addition to the tourist promotion of the São João festivals, patron saint of the municipality, and the participation of local operators in tourism fairs.
