Africa-Press – Cape verde. Cape Verde wants to reinforce its commitment to the Portuguese market and promote Cape Verdean culture at the 35th edition of Better Tourism Lisbon Travel Market (BTL), which starts today and runs until Sunday, 16th, in Lisbon.

The statement was made to Inforpress by the Minister of Tourism and Transport, José Luís Sá Nogueira, who leads the Cape Verdean delegation, accompanied by the president and executive director of the Cape Verde Tourism Institute (ITCV), Jair Fernandes and Vânia Rodrigues, respectively.

“We will be with the tour operators who have been working to promote Cape Verde as a destination and we will also have a strong cultural activity during our presence, showcasing our gastronomy and our music”, highlighted the governor.

In addition to promoting culture and gastronomy, Cape Verde intends to strengthen institutional and business partnerships with Portugal, and meetings are planned with the Portuguese Minister of Infrastructure, Miguel Pinto Luz, who holds the Aviation portfolio, and with the Secretary of State for Tourism of Portugal, Pedro Machado.

The objective is, according to Minister José Luís Sá Nogueira, to strengthen existing cooperation between Cape Verde and Portugal, particularly in the tourism and professional training sectors.

“We want our Hotel and Tourism School to serve not only our market, but also other countries interested in professional training. There is indeed very strong cooperation between Portugal and Cape Verde in this regard, and we are going to strengthen this partnership, especially in terms of tourism promotion and digital technology”, said Sá Nogueira.

The minister also highlighted to Inforpress that “it is important” that there is business, because “this business constitutes the basis for sustaining everything that could be important for both countries”, adding that the institutional aspect is relevant, and that it is in the business sector that “fruitful and lasting partnerships” are guaranteed.

The Government highlighted that participation in BTL is part of a broader international promotion strategy, with Cape Verde having been present, in the last three months, at fairs in Berlin (Germany), Madrid (Spain) and Lisbon (Portugal), aiming to consolidate the country as a tourist destination of excellence and attract new investments.

Cape Verde was the guest country in the 2024 edition of BTL, reinforcing its strategic position in the Portuguese tourism market, and this 35th edition is Cuba the guest international destination.

Considered the largest tourism event in Portugal and one of the most important internationally, BTL brings together professionals, exhibitors and visitors from all over the world, with the aim, according to the organization, of “expanding the notoriety and international attractiveness of the fair, making it a strategic meeting point for the tourism sector”.

Promoted by the AIP Foundation, the 35th edition of BTL will take place at the Lisbon International Fair (FIL), Parque das Nações.

In the 34th edition, the official inauguration of BTL had a cultural reception with the Kola San Jon group, a batucadeiras group and a musical performance with Cremilda Medina.
