Africa-Press – Cape verde. Three female civil servants, natives of Fogo Island, are being investigated on suspicion of committing several ongoing embezzlement crimes. The women, aged between 35 and 42, were arrested outside of flagrant crime as part of an investigation filed with the Public Prosecutor’s Office of the District of São Filipe.
According to a statement from the Attorney General’s Office released today, after the initial judicial interrogation, the defendants were subject to coercive measures: a ban on leaving the country, suspension from their duties, and periodic reporting to the authorities.
The arrests were made with the assistance of the National Police, and the case is still under investigation and remains under judicial secrecy.
