Africa-Press – Cape verde. The Minister of Justice announced this Friday that the Government will appoint and swear in the new governing board and other management bodies of the Legal and Judicial Centers in the coming days. These structures were created in August.

Joana Rosa, who made this announcement in her opening speech during the parliamentary debate on the state of Justice, in the second plenary session of October at the National Assembly, emphasized that the appointment of these new teams will be the cornerstone of the initial and ongoing training of magistrates.

According to the Minister, this initiative contributes to the quality of justice and fulfills a decades-long demand from the legal community.

It will also allow, according to the same source, a reduction in costs associated with training abroad and the channeling of funds to other needs of the sector.

The creation of the Legal and Judicial Centers arises within a broader context of structural reforms in the sector, as she explained, which the Government has been implementing, aiming to “modernize institutions, value human resources and guarantee a modern, swift, accessible and credible justice system”.

The Minister recalled that in the area of professional training and development, the Government approved the creation of Legal and Judicial Centers last August.

During her speech, she stated that the first training sessions, aimed at judges and public prosecutors, as well as other professionals in the justice system, will take place in the first quarter of next year.

Joana Rosa assured that the Government will continue to invest in the justice sector and cooperate with the Superior Councils of the Judiciary and other institutions, respecting the autonomy of the sovereign bodies, but providing technical support for efforts to improve the management and efficiency of the justice system.
