Africa-Press – Cape verde. <\/strong><\/span>This Monday, the 28th, the island of Sa\u0303o Vicente hosts the first edition of the Annual Forum on Decentralized Cooperation (FACD), with the participation of mayors from the country and foreign counterparts, civil society, NGOs and universities. It is intended to collect subsidies and recommendations for the search for new partners.<\/p>\n

The forum, of national scope, aims to “evaluate the experiences already obtained in Decentralized Cooperation and collect subsidies and recommendations for future consideration, in the search for new partners and cooperation actors”, according to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and Integration Regional.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, says the same source, it is intended to redefine the concept and role of the State in this process of broadening and diversifying its international partnerships, involving State and non-State actors.<\/p>\n

The Forum has the participation of mayors from countries with which Cape Verde has diplomatic relations and whose municipalities\/communes maintain cooperation\/twinning agreements or other forms of cooperation with Cape Verdean municipalities.<\/p>\n

Representatives of civil society will also be present, particularly NGOs, Foundations, Universities and International Private Organizations.<\/p>\n

Cape Verde\/Portugal strategic partnership<\/p>\n

Taking into account the strategic partnership between Cape Verde and Portugal, says the MNECIR, in this first edition, the Government and the Association of Municipalities of Cape Verde intend to involve the Portuguese municipalities twinned with the municipalities of Cape Verde, \u201cto explore all the potentialities existing cooperation agreements\u201d.<\/p>\n

The forum will take place between 9am on Monday, 28th, in the Barlavento Chamber of Commerce Conference Room.<\/p>\n
