Africa-Press – Cape verde. <\/strong><\/span>The Municipal Guard of the city of Praia celebrates its 14 years of existence this Sunday, 4th. The solemn act that marks the event takes place this morning at the Town Hall. One of the challenges, as is already public knowledge, is the transformation of the guard into municipal police, something that mayor Francisco Carvalho says he hopes to implement in 2023.<\/p>\n

Praia municipal guard is celebrating 14 years of existence. To mark the date, on the morning of this Sunday, the 4th, a formal session will be held in the Town Hall of the city of Praia, on the Plateau.<\/p>\n

The act will be co-chaired by the Mayor of Praia, Francisco Carvalho and the Minister of Internal Affairs, Paulo Rocha.<\/p>\n

It should be remembered that the Municipal Guard was created with the aim of supervising and enforcing the code of postures and regulations with a view, namely, to the defense and protection of public health and the environment, to safety in the circulation of vehicles and pedestrians on the roads public utilities, respect for urban management standards, guaranteeing public supply and consumer protection.<\/p>\n

These objectives have brought many challenges over the years to the municipal police of Praia.<\/p>\n

Municipal Police in 2023?<\/p>\n

Still recently, at the opening ceremony of the 1st Journey of the Municipal Guard, which took place at the end of November, as part of the celebrations of the day of the Municipal Guard of Praia, the mayor Francisco Carvalho stated that he is \u201cexpectant\u201d with the implementation of the Municipal Police in the next year, to respond to the demands of the capital.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are available and open at the city hall for the implementation of the Municipal Police. The money needed to implement the Municipal Police is reserved in the budget and, at the moment, there is no guarantee at the central level of the Government. We are working in this direction and we are very confident because the meeting we had with the Minister was very productive and we believe that in 2023 we will be able to implement the Municipal Police in the city of Praia\u201d, he said, quoted by Inforpress.<\/p>\n

At the time, he also said that the city council is working on the sharing of fines, promising to also work on creating conditions for municipal guards to feel \u201csatisfied\u201d and \u201cmotivated\u201d in the performance of their duties.<\/p>\n
