Africa-Press – Cape verde. <\/strong><\/span>Twitter users who were already verified through the old process will not lose their blue ticks, the social media network has announced. Through their official page, Twitter says all accounts with the blue checkmark will now be required to keep their current user name and profile photos.<\/p>\n

\u201cAll accounts with blue checkmarks that change their display name or profile photo will lose their check until their account can be reviewed,\u201d the statement read.<\/p>\n

Twitter also said the company is adding more account distinctions. \u201cGold checkmarks will appear on verified official businesses on Twitter, grey checkmarks will appear on government and multilateral accounts.\u201d<\/p>\n

The social media giant has been making changes to its verification processes in the recent past. In October, Twitter announced plans to charge users with the blue verification badge on a monthly basis.<\/p>\n

Users who subscribe to Twitter Blue will pay a fee of Sh972 ($8) per month. Twitter owner Elon Musk had tweeted that there were plans underway for the verification process to be reviewed.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe whole verification process is being revamped right now,\u201d Musk said in a tweet.<\/p>\n

Subscribers will enjoy priorities in replies, mentions and searches, which Musk said was essential to defeat spam\/scams. They will also be able to post long videos and audio and get half as many adverts.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere will also be a secondary tag below the name for someone who is a public figure, which is already the case for politicians,\u201d Musk said.<\/p>\n
