Africa-Press – Cape verde. <\/strong><\/span>The head of state questioned this Monday why Cape Verde holds presidential, legislative and municipal elections on the scheduled dates, since 1991, while \u201cthe important constitutional bodies do not have their mandates renewed\u201d with the same regularity.<\/p>\n

This concern of Jose\u0301 Maria Neves was manifested during the conference marking the 28th anniversary of the creation of the National Elections Commission (CNE), having stated that the country \u201ccannot regard a situation that is not normal as being normal\u201d.<\/p>\n

Neves complained about the fact that the mandate of some members of bodies external to parliament had their mandate to be renewed for more than three years or even of institutions. Such as the Constitutional Court, the CNE (electoral commission), the CNPD (data protection) and the ARC (communication regulator) with mandates expired since last year, due to lack of consensus among political actors in parliament.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is the most obvious result of the lack of dialogue and cooperation between the parties.
