Africa-Press – Cape verde. <\/strong><\/span>The sale of toys considered dangerous for children and problems related to hygiene in bakeries are the main occurrences registered by the General Inspection of Economic Activity (IGAE) during inspections carried out in the context of the Christmas festivities.<\/p>\n

According to information advanced to the Cape Verdean news agency, Inforpress, this Monday, the 26th, by the inspector general, Paulo Monteiro, during the 81 inspections carried out between the 10th and the 24th of December, 50 infractions were registered, of which 21 will lead to misdemeanor proceedings.<\/p>\n

These inspections, which covered the areas of toys and bakeries in the city of Praia and Mindelo, were aimed, according to Paulo Monteiro, at ensuring public health safety during the Christmas season.<\/p>\n

Thus, according to the official, the IGAE withdrew from the market a considerable amount of toys considered dangerous, namely pistols, swords, grenades, handcuffs and other sharp toys, considered dangerous for children.<\/p>\n

Hygiene problems in bakeries<\/p>\n

With regard to the bakeries, Paulo Monteiro, adds that the situation found on the ground was not ideal, even verifying aspects of some \u201clevel of concern\u201d regarding the hygiene of the space.<\/p>\n

That official said, however, that, taking into account the spirit of the Christmas season, no establishment was closed or temporarily suspended, having opted for preventive action through awareness and recommendations for the introduction of improvements.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen we detect anomalous situations, we give these bakeries 24 hours to verify what the inspectors detected at the time. And, 24 hours later, we return with the same team to make sure that the recommendations were followed\u201d, explained Paulo Monteiro.<\/p>\n

Stronger action next year<\/p>\n

Paulo Monteiro advanced that, taking into account the situation found during the Christmas operation this year, the IGAE will be \u201cmore attentive\u201d next year through a strong offensive in the area of \u200b\u200bbakeries. He also promised firmer action in cases of prevarication.<\/p>\n

It should be recalled that the IGAE Christmas operation was carried out in partnership with the National Police.<\/p>\n
