Africa-Press – Cape verde. <\/strong><\/span>One person died and four were slightly injured in a car accident that took place this afternoon, Thursday, in the locality of Boca de Mocho, in the Municipality of Ribeira Grande de Santo Ant\u00e3o.<\/p>\n

According to the commander of the Ribeira Grande Police Station, Adelino Monteiro, the accident happened around 1:30 pm, on the road that connects Cruzinha to Mocho.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is an open-top Toyota vehicle, carrying five passengers, four of whom suffered minor injuries and the other couldn’t resist and ended up dying on the spot,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Adelino Monteiro said that the accident occurred due to the vehicle skidding, when making a left turn, the driver lost control of the vehicle and it ended up falling into a ravine where it overturned.<\/p>\n

The Ribeira Grande health delegate, Florentina Lima, who collected the body at around 4 pm, said that the cause of death of the individual included polytrauma, “mainly” in the thoracic and abdominal regions.<\/p>\n

As for the other four injured, the same source said that they were transferred to the health post in Ch\u00e3 de Igreja and according to available information, they were all stable and without any serious injuries.<\/p>\n

The fatal victim was an individual in his 40s, and was returning home after a day at work.<\/p>\n
