Africa-Press – Cape verde. <\/strong><\/span>The Secretary-General of the United Nations confirmed this Sunday, 22nd, the agricultural resilience of farmers in Vale do Paul, in Santo Anta\u0303o, through the project \u201cFostering Sustainable Agricultural Practices\u201d. In this sense, Anto\u0301nio Guterres said that Cape Verde is at the forefront of the effects of climate change.<\/p>\n

Anto\u0301nio Guterres spoke with farmers in Vale do Paul and found out about the project that aims to transform the agricultural sector and foster the creation of jobs for almost 100 young people and women and 90 farmers.<\/p>\n

In all, 285 small producers of beans, cassava, bananas, coffee, papaya, cabbage and other foods are benefited.<\/p>\n

Affected by drought<\/p>\n

The Paul Valley is facing the signs of climate change with reduced water flow for agriculture and a reduction in the number of herds.<\/p>\n

The Valley has just over 7,000 residents and is home to what FAO specialist Katya Neves describes as an experimental garden with various types of crops.<\/p>\n

The \u201cPromotion of sustainable agricultural practices\u201d project in the municipality of Pau\u0301l is financed by Luxembourg, among other donors, and has the support of the UN Food and Agriculture Agency,<\/p>\n

FAO, and the Program for Development, UNDP.<\/p>\n
