Africa-Press – Cape verde. <\/strong><\/span>The city of Praia hosted on the afternoon of this Monday, 23rd, the official inauguration of \u201cMentors International\u201d \u2013 (MI), an American organization that through professional training helps the most vulnerable people, at a level of sustainable self-sufficiency. MI opened its doors on the 9th of January, through its Education and Mentoring Center, with 40 students for the English and Microsoft Suite courses, in Palmarejo.<\/p>\n

The organization that now arrives in Cape Verde (the fifteenth country covered worldwide) will be coordinated by the Cape Verdean teacher, Mo\u0301nica Cardoso, who will be director of the Education and Mentorship Center in Praia.<\/p>\n

Mentors International operates in poor countries in the Americas, Africa and Asia, including, according to a press release, countries such as Guatemala, Mexico, Nicaragua, Peru, Cambodia, Nepal, Ghana, Malawi, among many others in addition to Cape Verde.<\/p>\n

Operation and courses available<\/p>\n

Typically, this American philanthropic organization works from an Education and Mentoring Center that works as a fortress and then opens more centers that work as satellites in other counties and other islands or districts.<\/p>\n

Within the scope of this project, the Centro de Educac\u0327a\u0303o e Mentorio da Praia, MI will provide several courses, namely English, Microsoft Suite, Sales and Public Service, Graphic Design, Entrepreneurship, Cloud Computing, Programming, etc.<\/p>\n

Compensate with social service<\/p>\n

The target audience are individuals who, according to the Progress Out of Poverty Index \u2013 IPP, need to have a low monthly family income that justifies being welcomed.<\/p>\n

Taking into account the \u201cfree\u201d training, these will then have to compensate with social service. In other words, \u201cstudents do not pay a monetary amount, however, they will have to provide 40 hours of social services during the 4 intensive months of training\u201d which will be supervised by the centre’s management.<\/p>\n

Mentoring and guidance, strand II<\/p>\n

The other aspect of MI’s work is Mentoring, which would be guidance and teaching for people who intend to change their lives and reach a sustainable level of self-sufficiency.<\/p>\n

Remember that MI opened its doors on the 9th of January, through its Education and Mentorship Centre, having received 40 students for the English and Microsoft Suite courses.<\/p>\n

At the official inauguration of this project in Cape Verde, yesterday, the 23rd, four (4) members of the executive body of this institution were present, directly from the headquarters in the state of Utah, in the United States of America, including its Director General, Lui\u0301s Kemeny.\r\n
