Africa-Press – Cape verde. <\/strong><\/span>Immigrants in Boa Vista now have at their disposal a \u201cLocal Immigration Unit\u201d designed to provide integrated services for both the Public Administration and the Municipality of Boa Vista. The unit, inaugurated on Friday the 27th, will operate in the Social Services building of the City Council (BUCAM Building), in Sal Rei.<\/p>\n

A inaugurac\u0327a\u0303o oficial da \u201cUnidade Local para a Imigrac\u0327a\u0303o\u201d contou com a presenc\u0327a do ministro do Estado, da Fami\u0301lia, Inclusa\u0303o e Desenvolvimento Social, Fernando Eli\u0301sio Freire, e do presidente da Ca\u0302mara Municipal da Boa Vista, Cla\u0301udio Mendonc\u0327a.<\/p>\n

Na ocasia\u0303o, o ministe\u0301rio da Fami\u0301lia e a autarquia boavistense, rubricaram um protocolo visando a implementac\u0327a\u0303o da referida \u201cUnidade Local para a Imigrac\u0327a\u0303o\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cEste protocolo demonstra a alma, a forma de ser do pai\u0301s em lidar com o mundo. E\u0301 aquilo que se deve fazer em todos os cantos de Cabo Verde que e\u0301 criar todas as condic\u0327o\u0303es para que as estruturas do Estado, nomeadamente as Ca\u0302maras Municipais e Governo nas suas diversas representac\u0327o\u0303es tratem de forma digna, ra\u0301pida e com efica\u0301cia os imigrantes que procuram os seus servic\u0327os\u201d, considerou Fernando Eli\u0301sio Freire.<\/p>\n

The minister also said that this is the way the country has to treat immigrants with regard to the services they may need, from the border, when they arrive at the airport, legalization by the police and immigration and border services, in the accesses to jobs, residence, light and water, sanitation and all the goods and services they need to relate to State services.<\/p>\n

Fernando Eli\u0301sio Freire defended that it is up to the Government to organize so that the \u201cLocal Unit for Immigration\u201d is the place where immigrants will not only have access to public administration when necessary, but also to local services of the City Council such as access to housing, land, licenses for economic activities, among others.<\/p>\n

Approaching the immigrant community<\/p>\n

For his part, the mayor of Boa Vista, Cla\u0301udio Mendonc\u0327a, considered that the aforementioned protocol reinforces the need for work that allows the creation of a legal framework to establish or hold entities accountable in order to give greater flow and greater body to what who are immigrant communities on the island and in the country.<\/p>\n

Cla\u0301udio Mendonc\u0327a also said that the local authority has done an \u201cextraordinary job\u201d of approaching the immigrant community through its groups, and its religious communities, with particular attention to their concerns and requests.<\/p>\n

In this sense, he appealed to the Government and the president of the High Authority for Immigration (AAI) to make every possible effort to implement the unit to give vent to this migration process that is taking place and that will continue to grow.<\/p>\n
